Bo Bunny Madeleine

Hi Rikki here today sharing a layout with you using Bo Bunny's Madeleine range, which is in store now. So confession time I would normally have not gone to this range because its in the purple hues and the style is no me, but after completing this layout I have to say I am so happy I pushed out of my comfort zone or I would have never been able to create this layout. 

And trust me when I say you should all give this a go once in awhile......

Do you see that beautiful trim? When your in store next why dont you see the new trims, they are stunning and add a quick elegant detail to any page. 

To add instant height to your layout, add some cogitated cardstock under your photo, it adds support to the weight of the flowers and height to work around your flower clusters. 

A tip for those who want to do a massive flower cluster is to have a form to follow. The Your Creative Wings Vines are the perfect start to your page.

Do you have some resin in your stash? If your anything like me you have loads of it and often struggle with trying to find the perfect piece to match your layout.... why not give them a spray with some gold spray paint? If you dont have any spray paint, hit it with a little Prima Art Basic gesso and then Prima's Colour Bloom spray....

Want a quick title? Have you seen the new Kaisercraft Dies, just use some Jac paper through the die, peel and glitter away.

Dont forget to add the glitter throughout the page.... I love the new Prima Art Basics 3 D Matte Gel, its great to brush on and sprinkle glitter over it.

With Your Creative Wings Chipboard, you are lucky to get a small and a large one in the set to add extra depth I cut up the small set and laid it over the large one.

Louise Nelson Technique inspired layout by Mel Connell

Hi Again Everyone. So glad you stopped by t check out what I have been playing with this time. We have been getting the most yummy mixed media products in Tomorrow's memories lately and I know I an having a blast playing with it all. 

A couple of my new favourite products are the Prima/Finnabair Art Basic and Art Extravagance products and Just new to the store are the Tim Holtz Distress Sprays. OMGoodness just way to much fun stuff to play with. 

I learned a fantastic technique last year from the wonderful Louise Nelson. I just loved this class that I did with her and have been wanting to use this technique again since. 

Having both these fabulous mixed media products in I knew they were screaming out to be used in this way. 

So you want to start with a thick sheet of chipboard, I used 12x12 but it could be 8.5 x 11 or any size you need really. Gesso the whole sheet. 

Choose some pretty chipboard shapes, I have used the gorgeous flower heads from Your Creative Wings, this chipboard is in store at TM's now. Lots of fabulous designs to choose from. Make sure these are gesso'd also. and glue them down. 

Spread white crackle paste from Prima over the chippy pieces, I went a bit crazy and spread it over my entire sheet. Some parts will be thicker than others, but this is good, you will get different sized cracks form. Try and let this dry naturally if you can, pop it outside in the sun for a wee while. You will get better cracks if it drys naturally. 

Now the super fun part. Spritz your entire page with water, add drops of your favourite Distress Spray colours (unscrew the top and drip it on), spritz with more water until it spreads and puddles. 

This can take some time and you want to build up layers. Add and let dry, add and let dry. This you can dry with your heat tool to speed up the process. 

Once your happy with your colour I mixed up a spritz of gold spray using the Primary Elements powers and some water and put it on a Kaiser spray bottle. (these by the way work so well, such a great little spray bottle). 

Give the whole piece a light mist so you have just a hint of gold shimmer over it. 

I used some small splatter stamps from Kaiser, and gold embossing powder to add the look of splatters but using the stamps gives you a bit of control over where they go and ow they look. you gould however just splatter on some of the gold Distress Spray. 

Add a heat embossed title and a sprinkle of sequins across your page. ( another thing I fell in love with after my class with Louise last year. Sequins, oooooh yum!!)

Once it is all dry add a small photo, or a big one, totally up to you. 

You end up with this gorgeous soft watercolour effect in the background that seeps into all the cracks of the crackle paste which is all kinds of fabulous.

Your Creative Wings

Good Morning... Rikki here with what I promised you the other day with something a little bit messy. Its fun to get messy and its a great way to have some fun and remember your childhood skills long forgotten. When you play like this is important to have some awesome chipboard pieces to add to your layout, like the Your Creative Wings.....

Have you ever through about using your templates with black gesso? With the right template just spounge it on through the template and your done. For this piece I used Tattered Angels mist, but just painted it on. 

Now it is all about your layering, when you have a huge coloured background, its nice to dull it down with pure white, like the beautiful doilies and flowers in store now. To add to your cluster add a couple of hat pins.

To colour the chipboard I used the Prima Art Basic - Heavy Gesso, which you can pick up at the store as well as the Your Creative Wings Chipboard Flourishes.

I always try to find another way to use my chipboard pieces and if that means cutting them up I will. these jars are apart of the Mason Jar Bunting Love Set.

"Unique" Layout by Mistra Hoolahan

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing a layout I have created using some new papers from Authentique called "Spirited".  I don't often create Halloween themed pages... but these papers are fabulous and were perfect for this unscrapped pic of me from last year's "Nightmare Before Christmas" themed crop at Tomorrow's!

I've used some tulle to create a ruffle behind some of the paper layers, it softens the stark contrast of the spots against the lace patterned paper.  Once the paper layers were in place I've added all my flower clusters and some charms.  Some charms were silver, others brass... so to tie them all together everything got a lick of gesso, just using a dry brush technique.

Afterwards, to grunge up the white gesso I dabbed it with some Prima Color Bloom in Storm Cloud and Precious Stone.

Authentique Spirited Patterned Paper, Gesso, Prima Color Bloom Sprays, Tulle, Charms and Flowers are all available instore at Tomorrow's Memories.

Crate Paper "Open Book" layout by Mel Connell

Hello everyone, just stopping by to share a layout I have done using the new Open Book paper range from Crate Paper. This yummy collection is available ins toe right now at Tomorrow's memories if you wanted to get your hands on some. 

This is a fun bright range with Photographic Elements on it, like the cute little image of the girl with glasses, so i thought I'd use small pictures and create a clustered look.

I have cut out strips of the paper and made some double point banner strips, layered over this with a folded piece of pattern paper to create a secret fold out journalling spot. Sometimes you have something to say, but don't really want everyone to read it, so making the secret or hidden journalling places if wonderful for that. 

I added some of the cut paper elements and some paper flowers and my pictures to the front of this fold out part. 

On my background I have used the New Prima white crackle paste through a stencil to get some texture. try to let this dry naturally if you can, you get much better crackle effect that way. then splatted on some of the Prima colour bloom sprays. 

I added some hand stitched detailing around the edge and you end up with a fairly quick, cute, fun layout.

Kaisercraft "Off the Wall" Layout Shares

Hi there it's Louise today and I would love to share what I've been doing with the new "Off the Wall" Collection from Kaisercraft.  This is a new release for November and is a good one for showing off the boys in your life.

I've been scrapping a lot of 8.5"x11" layouts lately and I have found that switching things up has really sparked my creativity in a very positive way.  I usually have about three "go-to" page designs that I use over and over again but designing on a smaller scale has forced me to try some new ways of setting up my layouts- give it a try next time you are feeling a bit stuck in a creative rut.

Here's my first layout- I used patterned papers and some stickers to create the foundation of my page, then added some machine stitching, ink splats and sequins for added texture.

Here is my second layout.  Once again I used patterned papers and stickers with machine stitching and ink splats, but I used enamel dots and twine too. I also curled up the edges of all my paper elements to "rough it up" a little.

Enjoy the Little Things

Good Morning, happiness is fussy cutting..... I know, I know, I can hear the grumbles from here, but it is for me I love a great pattern and to sit down, put my feet up with a coffee or a glass of wine while watching a TV show and cut away...... its a great evening for sure. This is why I was so happy when I saw this floral piece in the Kaisercraft Rustic Harmony Range..... 

Dont forget the Collectables pack when your buying the papers, they are so helpful, especially for a quick diecut title, why not add a couple together?

Foam mount is your best friend when your a fussy cutter, so dont forget to grab a roll or two when your in store......

Sometimes you need a bit of bling, why not follow a shape and mix up your pearl sizes throughout the layout, I love to include them on the photo as well as it ties it all together. 

A tip to creating a heart on your page, start off with the bottom layer and make sure that it is a perfect heart then once you have stuck it down build up the layers with different flower sprays.

Webster's Pages "Nest" Layout Shares

Hi everyone!  It's Louise again with some more layout shares.  Webster's Pages have been producing some stunning collections lately and "Nest" is their new gorgeous offering.

Here is my first page- as soon as I saw the sheet of paper covered in doilies I knew I wanted to cut them up!  Here I've used them to mat my photo.  I kept this simple since the papers shine so brightly on their own, but I did add some ink splats here and there.

Here is my next page- back to my usual clean and simple style.  I cut up the journal card sheet to create blocks for my grid. 

I also used some of the vellum sheet to create a shaker box filled with blue and gold sequins in the bottom left hand corner. Please excuse my photo- it was a rushed phone photo!

Last of all I created a pocket page and cut pieces from the vellum sheet to add some transparency.  It looks great hanging up in the shop with the light shining through the gorgeous vellum.  I also created a shaker pocket with gold and silver sequins.  Here is a sneak- to see the whole page, you'll just have to pop in to the shop ;-)
