I knew straight away that this red was going to be the main feature of this layout but it needed another colour to balance it out, this is where a black or grey card stock would come into it, and then add other black features throughout the layout.

Time doesnt stand still.....

Good Morning Rikki here today with another share from the Kaisercraft Antique Bazaar collection. What's not to love about this range ? Its perfect for vintage, family, and especially boys. 

I am a huge fan of a diecut sheet and Kaiser haven't disappointed with this  Antique Bazaar 12x12 Specialty Paper Die Cut sheet. 

This range also has something for those who love to fussy cut, by using the Kaisercraft Antique Bazaar - Salvage piece of pattern paper you have instantly more than enough clocks to fill in a corner of a layout, with the left overs why don't you create a card?

Dont forget to use a couple of pieces of foam mount to add layers with all your elements.....

By adding the foam mount it will allow you to add the Your Creative Wings Chain in and under your  clock cluster.

It Raining, its Pouring!!!! Whooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Good Morning, ''the rains a coming, the rains a coming'', FINALLY its raining!! Its cold !!! This is happiness let me tell you. Its been a longgggggggggggggggg, dry Summer here in the West and I dont want to jinx it but I think Autumn is finally here (touch wood.... does it count if I touch a piece of pattern paper with wood on it?).

I am here today to share with you a layout that I recently competed the shop, using the stunning new Kaisercraft Range - Antique Bazzar, and with some Your Creative Wings Chipboard which is in store now. 

I love the Your Creative Wings Sprig Chipboard, they are perfect for the more masculine layouts, lets face it you always need a flourish or two on a layout. 

You will find there are plenty of diecut clocks in the Kaisercraft Collectables pack, just add a little foam mount then your ready to go.

Dont forget when your in store grab some wood veneer words, with a little paint, its the perfect title.

Let it go?

Hi, Rikki here today with a little share show casing the lovely Your Creative Wings Chipboard. 

Who can go past NEW Chipboard and especially ones inspired for this festive season..... 

Or in this case for the Frozen OBSESSED, Elsa /Anna loving, all singing, all dancing, theater actor 4 year old's in your life!!!!! 

Maybe I should LET IT GO!!!! 

 To start something like this use your Prima Art Basic Texture Paste though any stencil and allow it to dry naturally dont rush the process with a heat gun......

Now dont be scared spray your cardstock with water and I mean a lot of water!!!!!! Till the page is super soggy and even spray the back of it as well.... this will stop some of the paper warping when your trying to blend the colours together.

 Now mist away or even use  paint brush and go nuts with colour...... move the page around to bleed colours together...... when your happy leave it to dry over night. This will allow the paper fibers to shrink back at the same rate and will keep your warping to a minimum.

Now your proberly wondering why I said leave the texture paste to dry naturally..... I have found when doing this heavy water technique it will lift the texture paste away from the cardstock.

Now you just have to pick the perfect photo, and colour the Your Creative Chipboard and your done. If your feeling brave why not try this with the kids just make sure you have paper towels handy.

Kasiercraft Sandy Toes

Good Morning, Rikki here today with another Kaisercraft Sandy Toes share, and the timing couldnt be better with the weather slightly warm up over the next couple of days here in the West. And if your feeling inspired why dont you pop into the store to grab some of this paper.

When doing layers I love textures like the Kaisercraft Corrugated card, its is so versatile and helps support all your other layers on the page.

The boarders and diecuts in the Kaisercraft Sandy Toes 6x6 Paper pad give you loads of instant layers to add to your layout.

 I love the Kaisercraft Distressed overlays over your photos either staple them on or in a little corner use some glossy accents to help adhere it to your photo. Also they Kaisercraft Distressed Overlays have a protective cover on so dont forget to peel that off, this means that you can guarantee that they overlays have no scratches on them.

Another thing that is a must on a beach layout is a raw chipboard, this Your Creative Wings piece is the perfect finishing touch and it helps tie in the twine.

Kaisercraft Cherry Blossom fusion

Good Morning, Rikki here today with a bit of a fusion piece.I love mixed media and I often try to use up the end of a range by blending it together with some artistic, messy fun.

You should pop into the store to see the fabulous range of mixed media goodies perfect to get you started on some messy fun.

For the background I have used the Tim Holtz Distress Stain Mists, I love, love, love these for there vibrancy and how they interact with water. When you bring yours home why dont you grab a piece of white cardstock, add some water to the page then your mist and see what you can create. 

If they are too bright add some Prima Art Basic Heavy Gesso to the page first, this will make the mist more pastel.

Dont forget to keep your little strips that have the barcode, they will help ''fuse'' your mixed media background with your range of papers.

Another important thing to remember is to give your eye a rest, somewhere that is white and help give contrast to the background. A great way to do this is to use chipboard, like the Your Creative Wings Scribbles, and also with diecut shapes. 

The Tim Holtz Distress Stain mist has Picket Fence a perfect white, it allows minimal bleed through to keep it close to white over colours.

The next thing to do is add your Prima Art Basic Texture Paste through a stencil, its all about adding layers to your background.

Add some fussy flowers over and under your layers to complete the ''fusion'', also another tip, flick the Tim Holtz Distress Stains white over all your layout. This will tie the pattern papers to your background.

Louise Nelson Technique inspired layout by Mel Connell

Hi Again Everyone. So glad you stopped by t check out what I have been playing with this time. We have been getting the most yummy mixed media products in Tomorrow's memories lately and I know I an having a blast playing with it all. 

A couple of my new favourite products are the Prima/Finnabair Art Basic and Art Extravagance products and Just new to the store are the Tim Holtz Distress Sprays. OMGoodness just way to much fun stuff to play with. 

I learned a fantastic technique last year from the wonderful Louise Nelson. I just loved this class that I did with her and have been wanting to use this technique again since. 

Having both these fabulous mixed media products in I knew they were screaming out to be used in this way. 

So you want to start with a thick sheet of chipboard, I used 12x12 but it could be 8.5 x 11 or any size you need really. Gesso the whole sheet. 

Choose some pretty chipboard shapes, I have used the gorgeous flower heads from Your Creative Wings, this chipboard is in store at TM's now. Lots of fabulous designs to choose from. Make sure these are gesso'd also. and glue them down. 

Spread white crackle paste from Prima over the chippy pieces, I went a bit crazy and spread it over my entire sheet. Some parts will be thicker than others, but this is good, you will get different sized cracks form. Try and let this dry naturally if you can, pop it outside in the sun for a wee while. You will get better cracks if it drys naturally. 

Now the super fun part. Spritz your entire page with water, add drops of your favourite Distress Spray colours (unscrew the top and drip it on), spritz with more water until it spreads and puddles. 

This can take some time and you want to build up layers. Add and let dry, add and let dry. This you can dry with your heat tool to speed up the process. 

Once your happy with your colour I mixed up a spritz of gold spray using the Primary Elements powers and some water and put it on a Kaiser spray bottle. (these by the way work so well, such a great little spray bottle). 

Give the whole piece a light mist so you have just a hint of gold shimmer over it. 

I used some small splatter stamps from Kaiser, and gold embossing powder to add the look of splatters but using the stamps gives you a bit of control over where they go and ow they look. you gould however just splatter on some of the gold Distress Spray. 

Add a heat embossed title and a sprinkle of sequins across your page. ( another thing I fell in love with after my class with Louise last year. Sequins, oooooh yum!!)

Once it is all dry add a small photo, or a big one, totally up to you. 

You end up with this gorgeous soft watercolour effect in the background that seeps into all the cracks of the crackle paste which is all kinds of fabulous.
